Executive Summary
Homeschooling families don’t want to be given anything, and don’t want government encroaching on our education. We would prefer to be generally left out of legislation. We are happy with simply having fair, non-discriminatory laws.
- We would like the REMOVAL of homeschooling families from the Parental Choice Tax Credit. We don’t want government money. We will support either a line-item removal (HB1519) or a total repeal (HB2953 or HB3684).
- We DO NOT want inclusion into ANY academically-gated public school activity, such as public school sports and extracurriculars. We are AGAINST such measures as HB4491 and HB2088.
- We are FOR anti-discrimination measures and access to non-academically-gated services, but don’t want to be singled out. It is easy enough to write legislation that treats all people fairly without having to explicitly designate homeschooling students. A good example of this is SB1975. HB2950, once amended, will also be a good example of this.
- We are FOR parental rights, authority, and due process. Therefore we support SB1322.
