If you haven’t registered for Capitol Day, please do so now! Registering helps us plan for how many are attending, and gives us a way to communicate with you if there are last-minute changes or issues.
Schedule of Events
Check out our event schedule. Don’t be late for the rally!
Where do we park?
Parking in the South Parking Lot is free, but it can be crowded. It’s a bit of a walk to the building.
Where do we enter?
Once you’ve parked, look for the Oklahoma State flag in the very front of the building. You’ll see a sign beside it that says Capitol Entrance. You’ll go down a ramp and then through a set of glass sliding doors to the security check station. After passing through security, take the elevator to the second-floor rotunda. Please check in at the registration desk. From there, you will be directed to the Ally table if you will be delivering cookies, to the Ambassador table if you have completed the training and will be serving in that capacity, or to the Activities table, where you can participate in scavenger hunts or learn more about your tour if you reserved a time at registration. If you signed up for the 9:00 tour, you’ll meet your tour guide on the ground floor by the Guardian Statue directly behind the security station, instead of proceeding up to the 2nd floor.
What will we do?
There is so much to do at the Capitol – walk the building, view the art, talk to legislators, and see the rest of the Capitol grounds! We will have a scavenger hunt to help you explore the building. If you would like, we are offering free Capitol tours; you can sign up at the link below before Tuesday, January 27th. In the afternoon, you can see how a congressional session works.
What should we wear?
Plan for a lot of walking. Legislators will be in traditional suits and business attire, and some adults in our group will be similarly dressed. However, no one should stress about attire. You’ll see from the pictures of this event what people have worn in the past.
What food is available?
There is a Clara Belle’s Cafe inside the Capitol building. You can purchase food and coffee there. Feel free to pack a lunch or snacks for your family.
What if I need to drop off cookies that I baked?
If at all possible, please deliver your cookies (6 cookies per Ziploc) to one of the cookie drops the weekend before the event. But if you cannot, please bring them to the second-floor rotunda by 8:45 so we can box them up and get them ready for delivery.
