Jerry and Susan have educated their five children for over 25 years. They married in 1977 and began homeschooling in 1985.  The two served on the OCHEC board of trustees for fourteen years, and eight of these years Jerry was president while Susan coordinated the Leaders’ Retreat and edited the OCHEC Informer. 

Jerry is a licensed-ordained minister, who also works as a sales representative for a polyurethane foam company. He has mentored worship pastors, filled-in for pastors and music ministers, and still meets annually with homeschool leaders from across the nation.  

Susan has worked and researched in the realm of education for over forty years. She has spoken to support groups, parenting groups, at women’s retreats, and at homeschool conventions across the nation. She has co-directed Charlotte Mason discussion groups for over twenty years, with three different groups currently meeting monthly in her home. She also hosts seminars where she teaches the educational principles and methods of Charlotte Mason. In addition to enjoying their family, especially their eight grandchildren, Jerry and Susan enjoy gardening and swimming laps.
